This photo shows normal everyday items in an place where most Americans would not interact with them, an alleyway behind a building in inner-city America. The combination of a toilet, mattress, suitcase, and trashcan for me is a representation of what one could find in a normal bedroom, but in this case it is outside. To me this photograph represents the issues of poverty and homelessness in the USA.
