14th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Sustainable Travel
A panorama of Mesa Verde

Sustainable travel to me has a large emphasis on Historical Preservation. In order to keep history alive we must actively work towards creating a world where historic landmarks and preserved and left in good condition in order for visitors and students to continue the legacy of those who lived here before us. This photo is of Mesa Verde an ancient civilization that represents the conservation efforts of preservationists. This National Park will continue to teach and show the past to the future. The key to Historical Preservation is maintaining structures with their original integrity yet keeping them viable for the public to see.
