A peep into the artisan's workshop
Kumortuli/ Kumartuli is a traditional potters' quarter in old Kolkata, India. For centuries the place houses hundreds of artisans who etch clay to create beautiful idols of Hindu deities. From September to February is the busiest time of the year when major Hindu festivals are held. This shot I took a couple of years ago while exploring the place. I found a clay artist engrossed in making the idol of Goddess Durga for the upcoming festival.
