A picturesque street in the tiny mountain village of Khinalug, Lahic

Generally, Azerbaijan isn't on people's radars. However, a wealth of stunning locations can be found this country only for those who are curious enough to travel and explore its wonders.  Lahij district is one of the most ancient human settlements in Azerbaijan which is also known for its craftsmen and artisans. Khinalug mountain village in Lahic is the highest, most remote and isolated village in Azerbaijan and among the highest in the Caucasus. This village is highly attractive due to its isolated location, peculiar language, unique architectural appearance and culture. The village is more than 5,000 years, with about 2,000 residents that still retain their own unique cultural traditions, speak their own language and wear their own traditional clothes. For centuries the village was isolated by hard-to-reach mountains with dangerous rocky cliffs, led to the development of a unique language that does not belong to any linguistic group, and traditions and customs that are not found anywhere else. This photo shows one of the numerous picturesque roads in the village that show the simplicity and beauty of life and everyday moments these villagers experience.
