I took this on a farm up in Maine that works differently than mass-produced animal farms. They care for the animals and their health, quality of life, and quality of kill. I heard a story once that the community gathered at the farm and held a gathering to honor the pigs before the first slaughter. Pictured here is a piglet in a pig pen, still skittish but after sitting long enough, came around to not minding the camera.
