15th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest The American Experience
A proud imigrant wears an american flag at a vigil for imigrants in St. George, Utah
This is the same woman featured in another of my images. As the night grew colder, she wrapped the flag around her shoulders, and with the light catching just the side of her, it made for a powerful statement. The primary difference between the two photos is, I see, the difference between a nameless individual (since you can't really see her face) representing a group and a specific individual (in the other shot) with her own unique stories and struggles.
