A rainbow over Vernal Falls while hiking down the Mist Trail.

Our fifth and last National Park of our 2022 summer road trip was Yosemite. The big hike of the day was to the Vernal Falls. My husband told the kids that it was a moderate hike, knowing they would not want to take on a challenging one. As we made our way along the trail, things were going fine. That is, until we reached the Mist Trail. The mist coming off the falls made it difficult to see at times. Add a large number of people and slippery 600 granite steps to climb, and you have yourself a strenuous hike. However, it was all worth it and we all agreed we would do it again.
