A Rock Squirrel begs for food in the Grand Canyon.

The Grand Canyon was the 9th National Park out of 10 that we visited on our 11 day road trip in the summer of 2021. We spent the morning of Day 9 hiking the South Kaibab Trail. We were excited to become the 5% that visit the Grand Canyon and venture below the rim. On our hike we encountered many Rock Squirrels looking for a snack. It was very obvious by their fearlessness that their solicitations were often met with a plethora of food. We were determined not to fall for their cuteness or adorable antics. We knew that feeding wild animals was not helpful. This particular Rock Squirrel held this begging pose for quite a while. We were all impressed with his/her determination. Unfortunately, for him/her we did not cave.
