A Rose Grows Out of Concrete

This is my 2 year old daughter posing for me as we took a walk through the out neighborhood of the Lower East Side. She loves to wear dresses and tiaras. As I saw her beautiful image standing against the rough back drop of the buildings I immediately thought of the poem A Rose Grows Out of Concrete by Tupac Shakur, of how a beautiful creature can still grow and flourish in such a harsh environment.
