A Rwandan mountain gorilla
I had the opportunity to go gorilla trekking at Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda recently. After hiking hours through the jungle, I was able to see the Titus Family of mountain gorillas. It was incredible to be able to look into the eyes of my "cousins". This is one of the females who was 9 months pregnant at the time. I was surprised by her calm, gentle nature and her surprisingly human characteristics, such as her eyelashes and fingernails.
