14th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
A shark takes a cruise while a bird enjoys the view from above.
It took me two trips to Tahiti to score a clear day at this spot. The first time I went a storm destroyed the whole trip. Eight months later I booked a ticket and ended up scoring shots of a lifetime. Persistence is essential!
