14th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest The American Experience
A southern tree in the North.
This a Cladrastis Lutea, also known as a yellowwood, which typically grows in the south. We planted it about seven or eight years ago not even knowing what it was. Now every fall we are amazed by the brilliant yellow leaves it shines in front of our bungalow.
