A Striped marlin (Kajikia audax) approaches a small baitball of Pacific sardines (Sardinops sagax). Forty miles west off the Baja California Sur peninsula we were looking to find Striped marlins feeding on sardines. We looked for birds near the surface and found this small bait ball, it was obvious the Marlins had already been feeding because many of the sardines were already sliced and injured. We jumped in and slowly approached the sardines, then the Marlins showed up and within a few minutes the bait ball was no more. The action was fast and furious and I barely had time to focus and shoot.
