A sty without pigs

A homeless person lies on a park bench on the National Mall in Washington, DC. Their toes are amputated, they are dishevelled and surrounded by litter. The image contrasts sharply with the surrounding wealth. The title plays on the children's rhyme, This little piggy, where children count off on their fingers as they recite the rhyme. The title further plays on the reference to the disorder and dirty of a pigsty. The image speaks to loss and marginalisation.
