A Turkana mother and daughter, Kenya
I met this mother and daughter from the Turkana community while travelling in northern Kenya. The region has been hit by terrible drought, the result of climate change and shifting weather patterns in the region. As water becomes more and more scarce, women and children must dig deep in to the sand to extract enough water for themselves and their dwindling livestock. In a moment of rest between trips to collect water, this woman proudly showed off her baby who was very interested in my camera.
