A major exhibition in York Art Gallery in 2024 featured Monet’s “The Water-Lily Pond” as the central feature (10th May - 8th Sep 2024), to mark the 200th anniversary of the National Gallery on 10th May 2024. An interesting initiative of this exhibition was a field of wildflowers that they sowed at the outdoors space at the back of the York Art Gallery with the view to bringing the Monet exhibition also outside of the York Art Gallery, i.e. featuring a sea of wildflowers to mirror the water lillies flowing in Monet’s painting.
