A walk in Oakwood Cemetery with my children
My children are at that age where they have a lot of questions about death and dying. Death has never been taboo for me - part of our natural world. We experience it at an early age wether it is the passing of an elderly relative or an insect dead on the driveway. There is a beautiful historic cemetery in our city and I decided to take my kids there to walk around and generate a conversation about their questions. What I learned is that taking your kids to a cemetery will generate a lot more questions than answers; but, that is not a bad thing. I loved the discussions we had and surely a conversation we build upon as they get older.
