In February 2021 Austin (including much of the Southern U.S.) experienced an uncharacteristically severe winter storm that cause a deadly power outage and billions of dollars of damage statewide. It was a devastating, tragic event for many; yet I was one of the fortunate few that was able to keep warm with functioning utilities. This luxury allowed me to capture the unparalleled beauty and stillness of the snow and ice in a natural area that abuts our neighborhood. It was the first time I had seen snow like that (in Austin) in my lifetime.
