A window into humanity
An old woman; a street beggar in front of what used to be a monastery asking for help while onlookers in line waiting to gain access seem too absorbed in conversation, their smart phones or perhaps even their own thoughts. The glass panes showing their reflection is in turn a call to reflect on our own humanity. The old woman is framed by a rigid, metal square representing her desperation and sense of helplessness. The window serves the dual purpose of granting the camera access, as well as a providing a sense of entrapment and inability to ultimately change her situation.
