I love this photo in a very special way because it evokes the similar feeling in me as the paintings of my favorite artist Edward Hopper. It might sound counterintuitive, but in today’s fast-developing world where busy urban life is booming, humans are surrounded by loneliness. We have an unprecedented access to communication, yet our personal relationships suffer and sense of belonging in society becomes more and more difficult to achieve. Meanwhile, sense of solitude reigns. I sincerely believe that this particular image captures this urban melancholy and sadness in a way that it was worth submitting for the contest.
