A woman sitting at a corner of a street, feeding pigeons

Grimm Brothers’ 1812 version of Cinderella differs from the original 1697 Charles Perrault’s version in several respects, one of which is the presence of enchanted birds in the former. I looked this up because I loved a scene in the play “Into the Woods”, based on the Grimm Brothers’ version, where Cinderella talks to birds who help her through a difficult situation. Walking on Fifth Avenue, as the world whizzed by this woman, I was reminded of the scene and hoped that Fairy Tales do come true.
