This photo was taken just after sunrise on Huangshan, the Yellow Mountain in China. We waited all morning under a veil of clouds until the decisive moment when the clouds lowered, and the sun rose out over the horizon. The sight was so moving that all onlookers from the mountain starting screaming with elation on the appearance of our golden star. This photograph is an attempt to capture the power of that moment when the warm rays of the sun first hit the mountainside.
