I'm an expat living in Abu Dhabi -- a world that in many ways feels familiar and at the same time distant, empty. I stopped along the highway when returning from a nearby mall and made a photograph of an empty billboard with my iPhone. It was mid day and the sun was strong but I wanted the image harsh without a fantasy element. I've always been fascinated by the billboards lining the pristine highways - advertising idyllic housing developments. But this one was empty.
