I was walking the grounds of the Madhav Temple outside Dhaka trying to capture the artistic arches & the intricate designs of the temples. I noticed a few elderly women sitting at an open space looking towards the deities and a few others were inside the temple looking very glum. I thought why not have a chat with them because I felt the loneliness in their eyes. The ladies come to the temple to socialize and pray since the younger family members are too busy to take care of them; most are widows and lead a life of isolation. The temples provide a respite to the aged Hindu women - they get to attend the prayers and talk to other women of the same fate. The sparkle in the eyes fascinated me with an aristocratic jawline and while we were talking I asked her if I could photograph her...she said sure joining her fingers together.
