African Typology - Flip Flops
A typology of nine different flip flops and sandals all hand made out of old rubber tires recycled from old vehicles and motorcycles. In much of Africa traveling is expensive and so people are forced to walk to where they need to go. Furthermore a lack of money also means that often people are not able to afford proper footwear. As a result the tread on old car tires is often repurposed to make the soles of shoes, which are both cheaper and more durable than buying shoes in a store.
