I met Alina by chance one morning, as I was photographing the remains of a shattered building for my project “Through the Cracks Within Us, light penetrates.” She was walking her dog slowly, among the ruins and scattered debris — the silent remnants of an attack that took place in April 2024. Around her, daily life persisted, fragile yet unyielding. Here in Ukraine, people learn to live among broken stones, wounded landscapes, walls opened like wounds.
