Hypsiboas picturatus is a stunning frog found in the Chocó region of northwest Ecuador and the western lowlands of Colombia. There are so many ways to photograph this beautiful species but I've always been a fan of their big eyes. When I found this one sitting on a leaf above a small stream I angled myself in such a way that the eyes would be the clear subject in frame. I used the leaf to my advantage to create a dynamic shot. The Chocó region is one of the most biodiverse and threatened regions in the world. Highlighting its beauty is critical to understanding what is being lost.
