American Coot skimming along the lake in the morning in great light! My first time at Santee Lakes was amazing. There were so many birds and ducks to photograph! I spent quite a few hours in the morning with several species of birds. This American Coot was fun to watch as it swam around and kept dipping it's beak in the water. Patience and persistence! I was surprised as I reviewed my photos from the day to find I had gotten this shot. I've photographed Coots before but this one is definitely a favorite!
