American Pika Adapting To Lower Elevations
An American pika peeks out from the tangle of tree roots and rock she calls home. This pika is one of a small few in this colony. As climate change & human behavior impacts alpine conditions, some pika colonies have moved into lower elevation biomes, such as the aspen forest I captured this image in. These adaptations to our changing planet give hope for the future of the American pika.
