18th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
An afternoon scene from Tanjung Lesung beach in Indonesia
It was around 5 pm and the sun was about to descend. Rain clouds partially blocked the rays and created this kind of dramatic light over the Sunda Strait. That gave me an opportunity to view the bagan (floating fishing huts) silhouetted. The dragonflies criss-crossed the air consistently and the glare released by the water had a blinding effect.
