This hall was one of the first levels of entry into the United States for many immigrants. This is the start of screenings to decide who could and could not enter the country they admired. Luckily, most made it into this great country. Ellis Island reminds us of where we came from and what our ancestors sacrificed to be able to enjoy freedoms that some of us now take for granted.
