15th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest The American Experience
An American Hero
The photo is the grave site of Fr. Vincent Capodanno, aka The Grunt Priest. He was a Staten Islander who was killed in Vietnam, while praying over the men in his unit that were dying. He is an American hero to me, and those that survived.
