Autumn and the fruiting bodies of fungi grow out of the ground in woods and fields in England. This is a large woodland fungus pictured from the ground showing the mature, open gills and a ring around the stem that can be moved up and down. It is probably a Shaggy Parasol - but I am no expert!!
