12th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
An Arizona red-spotted toad.

On a geology field trip to Barnhardt Canyon, I saw this little toad (about the size of a cherry tomato) hopping along a path. He was so small and was well camouflaged with the surrounded gravel. He was just too cute!
