At five years of age I felt the gentle sweep of an elephant's trunk as she took a peanut from my hand. From that moment forward, elephants became a part of my life - only through books and the media. At age 60 I volunteered at African Elephant Research Unit to work with them. Now an annual journey with hopes of long term commitment.
