An elk lunching in the forest

Elk can be seen meandering in and out of the ponderosa pine and pinyon-juniper forests of the Grand Canyon park. During the summer, elk eat almost constantly, consuming between 4 and 7 kilograms (8.8 and 15.4 lb) of vegetation daily.
