An emblematic toad from Surinam

It just started raining on our way up on a steep trail in the remote jungle of Surinam. We could hear heavy machinery used for the mining industry growling in the distance. But then there it was, Atelopus hoogmoedi, a toad species high on my list. I really hope this population will survive the next decades, so that others after me can admire this wonderful creature too.
