Once in a while I would just drive on unfamiliar country road and just go where ever seems interesting, I would do that for hours until I was totally lost. Then, before I run out of gas, I would turn on the GPS and try to make my way back to the hotel. On this trip, I ended up at a lake shore, when I hiked out of the woods and saw the calm water ahead. You felt like you've been holding your breath your whole life, and now you can finally exhale.
