A new born orangutan in safe hands - Sumatra, Indonesia
Gunung Leuser National Park is a protected forest and prime habitat for the critically endangered Sumatran orangutan. This orangutan mother was rescued from the illegal pet trade and eventually released into the park to join many others who have also been rescued elsewhere on the island. The rescue process can be traumatic for these great apes, but her two week old baby, was born in the safety of the park and so will hopefully never have to go through this experience.
