We entered a trail on a hot day in July hoping we would beat the afternoon storms. It wasn't long before thunder could be heard. We decided to keep hiking for the moment, and I'm so happy we did. Shortly into the walk, we spotted an osprey perched high in a tree. To our delight there wasn't just one, but FIVE flying from tree to tree. It was as if they were putting on a show for us. Out of all of the photos I shot of them, this was is my favorite one. To me, it really embodies how I view these beautiful birds of prey - mysterious, confident, and powerful.
