Albanian is the language you’ll hear spoken on the street in Pristina, the urban capital of Kosovo. With 52% of it’s population under the age of 25, it is common to observe the narrow streets and countless cafes packed with young people chatting with one another and promenading in the hours before the evening dusk descends. This elderly man seemed even more of an anachronism among the youth and revelry of Orthodox Christmas shoppers, his haunting stare a reminder of Kosovo’s not-so-distant past.
