Antarctic fur seal mother and her newborn pup at Grytviken, South Georgia.

At the height of the season hundreds of fur seals occupy the beaches and hillsides around the old whaling station of Grytviken. (About 95% of the world population breeds at the Island of South Georgia). A couple of days after arriving on the beach the mature females would each give birth to a tiny black pup.
