The warm temperature, humid atmosphere, and flat terrain all contribute to perfect storm conditions in Texas. I watched a supercell develop over an oil field and it looked nothing short of apocalyptic. Dark, pouch-like mammatus clouds blanketed the sky and were an ominous warning of the storm that followed, but the warm sunset and the patch of clear sky on the right offered hope that this too would pass.
