The photo represents the ecological distress of the Aral Sea - once the world's fourth largest lake it dried up to 10% of its' size within a few decades to to vast irrigation of the USSR. Now the rusting ships remind of the prosperios sea-port, which was the city of Muynak in the middle of last century.
