Arboreal Viper
A side-stripped palm-pitviper lurks within the cloud forests of Costa Rica. Its green body helps it blend in with the surrounding foliage while its heat sensing pits help it detect the slightest movement of prey. It sits motionless waiting for prey to wander by, especially birds. I sat below this snake with my camera, watching as hummingbirds come and go, wondering when it'll strike. After spending days waiting for the right moment, the snake will eventually catch its dinner.
