Arcadi Monastey is located at Rethymno and it is one of the most importand monasteries in Crete. It is located 500m above the sea and it consists an impressive complex of a fortress type since the begging of the 13th century. The monastery becomes famous through the world and gets established as a symbol of sacrifice, freedom and heroism during the Cretan Revolution period at 1866 against the turkish thrall.
