Arctic Reindeer
At almost 72 deg north we are in the Arctic Circle. Travelling on the road to Nordkapp, in the very far north of Norway, we spy a small herd of reindeer. This very young reindeer, looking a little disheveled midway through his shed, looks right at me. His nose and feet look just a bit big for him now but he will soon grow into them!! The indigenous people of this area, the Sami, have long been semi nomadic reindeer herders, as well as farmers, hunters and fishers, and they continue their traditional lifestyle today.
