ashura day

Ashura Day A group of Shiites believers are splashing mud (mud-splashing is a kind of special ritual on Ashura day in Bijar) on their heads and chests. Bijar is one of the religious cities in Iran, which holds special mourning rituals on Ashura day (the day of the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, who is the leader of Shi’ism in Islam), so that they show their dedication to Imam Hussein.
