14th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Travel
Aurora Borealis over Bleiksøya / Vesterålen, Norway
I included a rock in the image as I wished to try and give a sense of scale to the Aurora. As the light swirled in the sky I was also able to see the reflection of the northern lights in the sea.
