It was only after I took this photograph that I felt I had captured a bit of the centuries long tradition of the sport of rowing, especially in two historic American cities: Boston and Philadelphia. I find a connection in mood between it and the great series of rowing paintings from the 19th to the early 20th centuries by Thomas Eakins of Philadelphia.
